# Espresso

> Espresso is instant file search for macOS, in the spirit of Everything for Windows: it indexes the names and paths of every file on every disk, updates results on every keystroke, and keeps disks searchable after they are unplugged. Native, private (the index stays on the Mac, no telemetry), free for personal use.

- Runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon and Intel. App size 13.3 MB.
- Espresso Free: free forever for personal, non-commercial use. Every disk, live updates, the full search syntax (AND, OR, NOT, wildcards, regex, size, date, kind and folder filters), saved searches, macros, a global search panel (⌥ Space), two offline disks.
- Espresso Pro: €29, one payment, every update, up to 3 Macs, 14-day free trial; needed for use at work. Adds unlimited offline disks, search in your own words on the Mac (Ask the Barista), text inside documents and what photos show, photo/video/music details as columns, bulk rename with preview, Timeline, CSV export, command line, Shortcuts, Raycast, Alfred and an MCP server for AI assistants.
- Measured (MacBook Air, Apple M2 (4P + 4E), 8 GB, macOS 26.3.1, 15 October 2026): every “invoice” among 1,856,094 files in 0.14 ms; first index of the startup disk 9.5 s for 1,582,906 items; a new file appears in results in about 16 ms.
